I don't love the word "nonfiction". It's always implied mundanity and plainness to me, even if that isn't the case. Just because something is nonfiction, doesn't mean it can't move you in the same way fiction can.
That said, I do believe that nonfiction is most impactful for the author. It feels almost selfish to write so much of it, yet here I am. Every piece here is on a topic near and dear to me, something that I deemed so important to write down. Maybe you'll learn something new, maybe you'll skim the second half of these pieces. All I hope is that someone gets a takeaway equal to what I had writing them.

A celebration of a bygone era
This piece was the main inspiration for this site in the first place. I've always had a deep appreciation for the "old, personal internet". When google gave you not the results paid for by the top bidder, but the results you needed. I miss the feeling of every site being its own unique corner of the world, belonging entirely to you. I hope this piece can highlight the importance of the personal internet.

I won't dance, don't ask me
If I've ever talked to you for more than a couple minutes, I've probably talked about my love for live jazz. I am a firm believer that every human being should watch a live jazz performance in person at least once in their life. There's nothing like it.
Jazz in all its many forms means so much to me. It's something I've loved deeply and shared with others I love for as long as I can remember. It allows me to feel, more intensely than I ever thought. Even if you take nothing from this piece, I hope you one day find yourself in a seedy jazz club, watching a stranger lose themselves on a saxophone, and maybe then, you'll hear what I mean.
